Like you, we’re passionate about Smithers. But now is not the time to travel.
Like other small communities, Smithers and its surrounding area has limited health care resources to serve our region. For the safety of residents and visitors, Tourism Smithers is asking visitors to follow the directive of the federal and provincial governments and please stay close to home at this time.
We understand that the decision to cancel a trip to our beautiful area is not an easy one to make, and we thank visitors for keeping yourselves, your families, and all of our communities safe.
While the doors to the visitor centre are closed, our team is here to answer your questions by phone (at 800.542.6673), via our social media channels or email us here.

For those currently in Smithers, every single person’s actions can contribute to saving lives. We all must take social distancing recommendations from public health officials very seriously.
- Stay home.
- Avoid non-essential trips into the community.
- Avoid gatherings.
- Stay at least 2 metres (6 feet) from others in public.
If you or someone you know is experiencing possible COVID-19 symptoms, call the provincial health information hotline at 8-1-1.
Many businesses in our community remain open to fullfill your essential needs. Which businesses are open, their hours, and saftey procedures varies greatly from business to business. Please contact individual businesses to see how you can support them during this unprecedented time.
