If your interests lean more towards remote, backcountry adventure, Smithers has accommodation to fit every need. There are huts and cabins in many of the surrounding mountains such as the Babines, Howson and Hudson Bay Mountains. Services range from basic to fully serviced. Many of these cabins will appeal to the more adventuresome who choose a ‘fly-in' or canoe/portage.


  • Aspen Bay Cabins

    Five rustic squared log cabins with wood heat and propane appliances. Fire pits, picnic tables & BBQ's available. Only 40 km from Smithers.

  • Babine Narrows Cabin

    Waterfront cabin with full bath situated at Smithers Landing BC on Babine Lake. One hour north of Smithers on all season road.

  • Banner Mountain-Lodge

    Padella & McKendrick Houses each have 4 to 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, laundry rooms, kitchens & living room areas, decks with BBQs, VCRs/DVDs & CD players/stereos and Wifi. A large gathering Hall with rec room downstairs & an outdoor playground, field & firepit are available for family functions, retreats, meetings - combined hall/lodging rates available. A great place to stay while you enjoy year round recreation - hiking, fishing, snowmobiling, on the edge of a cross country ski area. Located 15 minutes from downtown Smithers; paved to within 1km.

  • Bulkley River Recreation Site

    10 kms of maintained trails suitable for cross-country skiing or snowshoeing. These trails are not maintained. There is a warming cabin at the parking lot.

    We offer three-week, serious, high altitude expeditions in the arctic environment of Kluane Park, three-day summer hikes through mountain meadows and everything in between! Beginners welcome!
